556.7 years and an interview.
Sunshining Lady-Person would like to express amazement at the following.
So, I guess there's a tenth planet? Now, I'd been hearing about all this 'tenth' planet stuff and all these weird numbered names. And I put little to no stock in it until it settled down. I mainly did this to avoid personal confusion. I don't think it worked. Dang. Okay, onto the gist of the post, a RIWAOTSRT *snickers* ( a Random Interview With An Object That Shouldn't Really Talk)
-----
Narrator: "And now, for tonight's VIP, give a big warm welcome to the tenth planet, 136199 Eris!"
SL-P: "Hi Eris, welcome to our first ROC interview. How're you tonight?"
136199 Eris: "Fine, thanks! I'm glad to finally be here!"
SL-P: "So, sources say that before gaining the official name of 136199, they called you 'Xena', is that right?"
Eris (laughing): "Yeah, actually, they waited for a celestial body larger than Pluto to do that. It's after the old TV series, Xena, Warrior Princess. So, for a long time Xena was my nickname. They referred to my Moon as Gabrielle, which is an important sub-character from the TV series."
SL-P: "That's really neat. I loved that show... Anyway, what's your Moon called now?"
Eris: "Dysnomia, after the daughter of the Greek goddess, Eris; Dysnomia was a demi goddess of lawlessness. Which is funny, because the actress of Xena: Warrior Princess' real name was Lucy Lawless, so the whole thing is just really pleasant and neat all around."
S: "So, about your orbit. It takes you about 556.7 years to make your elliptical orbit around the Sun?"
E: "Yes indeedy, that's the truth. It's a long run, but somebody's gotta do it!"
S: "Now, all our readers are dying to know. Has the fame gone to your head? Has Pluto, who used to be the last planet of our Solar System gotten jealous in anyway? By the way, mentioning Pluto, what is your opinion on the Dwarf planet controversy? Do you think it'll last?"
E: "Well, now... I'm of the opinion that--"
S: "Oops! That's all the time we have, but thanks for coming in tonight Eris, glad to have met you."
E: "Thanks for having me."
S: "For more information on 136199 Eris and her moon, check out this page, and this page. For a bit about the Pluto controversy, go here. That's all for tonight's interview, again, thank you and remember-! It only LOOKS like potato salad!

Wow, is it REALLY named after the TV show? That just seems...strange? tacky? to me.. but then again I haven't watched a full episode.
(nice post btw!)
You haven't watched XENA? Oh my gosh. That was like, a constant growing up, along with Star Trek, Quantum Leap (bestest show ever), Babylon 5, and a couple others that I don't remember well. lol.
And if you'd watched it, and had been a fan, you'd probably understand. The character of Xena was INCREDIBLE...
lol. Wow.
I'm done.
